I often check my newsfeed on Facebook first thing in the morning after my alarm went off. It helps me fight off the allure of going back to sleep every five minutes until I have to finally get up. Usually, I'm not instantly wide awake when I read the newsfeed, but two days ago I sat right upright in bed squeeing (with my croaky morning voice) because there was a headline about "Karl Urban officially in talks to star on a Judge Dredd TV series".
OMG! I've been waiting for a Urban-as-Dredd continuation (in whatever form) ever since I've discovered the fabulous, most awesome movie Dredd last year. And now it could really happen!

I bring you two hilarious and interesting videos from The Graham Norton Show. One is just a tiny clip, the other is an entire episode (20x05) – probably of one of the best couches I've ever seen on the show.
The first is about Tom Hanks talking about what people call out to him when they spot him on the street, where he got the inspiration for Forrest Gump's unique accent, and the orgasmic experience of getting two Oscars. :D
When I first watched this clip in 2015, I was quite shocked. I thought Tom Hanks had turned gray. Hahah, now, a few years later, while re-watching the clip I knew it was not Tom Hanks's natural hair color. He had to dye it for his movie Sully.
It's really interesting how he got the idea for Forrest's voice. And that he's still able to nail that accent! Damn! I love Tom Hanks. Amazing actor!

The second video is about one of the most brilliant couches I've ever seen. Graham's guests are Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne and Bryan Cranston. They are so unbelievably funny. I tell you! Especially Bryan Cranston! He is such a great storyteller. I was literally in tears because of his bee story (around 14:35) and the one about him performing his first wedding (around 27:45). But there were many other funny scenes in it, the dating videos for example, or Eddie doing magic tricks. If you have 45 minutes left, you really should spend them watching this entire episode of The Graham Norton Show. You won't regret it! After watching that episode, I'm really intrigued by Bryan Cranston's biography A Life in Parts. It sounds fabulous. I'd really like to read it.

On Saturday, I watched the movie Sully (2016) for the first time. It's the one about heroic pilots Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles who emergency landed an airbus on the Hudson River on February 15th, 2009, saving the lives of all 155 people on board. This accident is generally known as the Miracle on the Hudson. I'm sure everyone remembers it.

The movie was brilliant! I absolutely loved every minute of it! Especially Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of the two main characters got to me. And since I had my slash goggles on, I couldn't miss the slashy undertones. Oh, man, I feel kind of weird for shipping real people. But, damn it, after watching the movie, seeing all those long meaningful, reassuring looks they cast at each other, the mutual respect and caring, I just can't not slash them. It's simply not possible.

OMG, you guys, if you have two minutes to spare invest them in watching this video. Seriously! Some guy with a really lovely sounding voice lets us glimpse into the mad world of YAHOO ANSWERS. He reads the most funny misspellings of the word "pregnant" he could find. I was in stitches! Some of these questions made me wonder where these people got their sex ed from.

So, while going through my old entries and replacing all the broken image links, I saw an entry about that horrible Harry Potter fanfic that is famous even to non-fandom people because of its irredeemable awfulness. There are unbearable Mary Sue characters, an unhealthy addiction with Gerard Way from the band My Chemical Romance. The fic also completely ignores canon, suffers from continuity errors and bastardizes almost all the character names (and personalities) we know from canon. Oh, and it has the most akward immature sex scenes ever! LOL Not to forget all the spelling mistakes and the gothification of almost everything. (You wouldn't believe how Draco behaves in this and the strange hobbies Dumbledore, Snape and Lupin developed.)

I feel almost at home here
The intention of making my DW my main residence is almost complete. When I got this account in June 2010 I never would have believed that it would become my primary journal one day. But, yeah, with the way things are over at livejournal right now I feel it's the right thing to do.
So in the last two weeks I've been working hard on making myself comfy here. First, I've changed my user name to the more familiar reijamira. Next thing was a new layout. The old one was okay but the font was entirely too tiny to read comfortably. Unfortunately, it didn't look pretty with a bigger font so I had to go looking for a completely new style. Not an easy untertaking. But I've finally found one that I liked. I tweaked it a bit so it fit my tastes better and gave it an overall Supernatural themed look.

In a next step I decided to get myself a Premium Paid Account which allows me to have 250 icons (Fuck yeah, icons!). After that I went on an icon hunt. Since I've recently got back into the Supernatural fandom I especially wanted to have LOTS of SPN icons. Man, I really had to dig deep until I hit pay dirt. Problem was a lot of the icons didn't show up due to Photobucket's new ToS (what's with all the harebrained ToS changes lately?). I ranted about that in my last entry. Anyway, I managed to save quite a lot of SPN icons to my computer (almost 500 to be exact. You never know when Photobucket blocks the rest of the image links. Argh, the immeasurable loss! So I took precautions and saved every single icon that was to my liking.)
After I got myself well supplied with icons the bio on my profile was the next big thing in need of an update. I did that yesterday. It's gotten longer than I thought, but, oh well, at least it gives a good overview of who I am.
Now, I feel almost at home. The only things that are missing are a mood theme (working on it) and new friends, of course. My reading list could use a bit more action.
Apart from that I really like it here. I hope there will be more active fannish communities in the future so that I won't need to check LJ anymore.
For all my LJ friends, if you have an account on Dreamwidth, I'm also reijamira over there. Let's stay in touch. :)

Woohoo! I've renamed my DW
I'm no longerjumilinga here. I've changed my DW username back to the name I use almost everywhere: reijamira. Hah! I feel better that way. Way better, actually! When I made this account I wanted to have a fresh name for a fresh account. But after all these years with "reijamira" I've got used to it, and being "jumilinga" on here always felt strange. So, yeah, I thought about it for a bit and at the end of the day I guess it was worth the $15 it costs.
Part of the reason why I've decided to rename my DW is that I'm planning to use it as my main journal. After the stuff LJ pulled with their terrible TOS I no longer feel comfortable there. As I said in my previous post: my paid LJ account expires at the end of July and I won't renew it. I'd much rather buy a paid account here on DW. Give my money to the better place. Support the more user-friendly place.

Random notes of the day
1. I just noticed I've left precisely 6,665 comments on livejournal. That means one more and I'm at 6,666. :D Funny number, don't you think?
2. Speaking of LJ: I want to back mine up in case TPTB want to delete it. I've heard that you can do that with dreamwidth. I will have to check this out, possibly tomorrow. My paid account is going to expire July 30th and even though it pains me a bit to lose it I don't want to give LJ any more money.
3. I've just played Skyrim for the first time since November 19th, 2016. Last year I've been pretty obsessed with it. Steam says I've spent 473 hours in the game. Well, yes, I didn't lie when I said I was obsessed.
4. Hubby and I are currently rewatching Supernatural. Back in 2007/2008 I was a big fan of the series. Until season 4 and the angels came along. For some reason I couldn't stand that story line, so I stopped watching SPN at around 4x16. I've not watched a single episode since. But now we're doing this rewatch thingy. And I don't know what was up with past me but this time around I freaking LOVE it! Even season 4! We're currently at 4x17 and I find it totally awesome! I've read spoilers for the other seasons and I'm really intrigued. I'm so glad I'm getting back into the fandom. SPN is one of my most beloved shows and I'm so happy that I can appreciate and like the later seasons as well.

Should I worry that my LJ and thousands of awesome comms and other private journals get deleted or purged because they are gay- or slash-friendly? I mean LJ harbors a MASSIVE part of fandom history. Lots of comms are still very active (looking at Harry Potter fandom for example).

It wasn't intended. It just sort of happened. And then, at the end of January, I discovered historical romance novels, and that completely absorbed all of my precious spare time. I'm pretty obsessed with this genre at the moment. Who would have guessed? Now I'm reading about rugged, savage Highlanders, rakish lords, posh viscounts, devastatingly handsome dukes, and I'm loving it. Muchly so! lol I'm currently active over at my goodreads account to keep track of all the wonderful (and not so wonderful) books I've read. Does anyone want to be friends over there?
